Custom software development

YORD replaces spreadsheets, manual steps and disconnected tools with custom software. The team maps your workflow, designs the system and builds it with software engineers before launch. Each release is tested, and the handover includes the source code, setup notes and documentation. Your engineers keep a system fitted to how your business works.

What we build

  • Requirements and a scoped system design, written before the build starts
  • Web applications and back-end services for your business processes
  • Integrations with the tools your team already uses
  • Admin screens, user roles and reports for your staff
  • Automated tests and a release process your team can repeat
  • Production deployment, monitoring and handover documentation

Who this is for

  • Your team runs key work in spreadsheets, email or several tools that do not connect
  • You have an internal tool that breaks, and every change needs a rewrite
  • You need a system that connects two or more of your existing products
  • You need software built and run by a team of engineers, not a single contractor

How it runs

  1. Idea

We map the workflow, the users and the data the system must handle.

  2. Design

We design the data model, the screens and the integrations, and agree the scope in writing.

  3. Build

We build in working increments, and each increment runs in a test environment before you review it.

  4. Launch

We test, deploy and hand over the system with documentation.

  5. Grow

We add features and fix issues as your business changes.

Questions about this service

Can YORD connect custom software to our existing systems?

Yes. YORD builds integrations between custom software and the systems you already use. The team first lists the systems involved, the access it needs and the data that moves between them. Each integration appears in the scope, so you see it before work starts.

Where does the software run?

The design stage settles where the system runs, who holds the hosting accounts and who pays for hosting. Your engineers can operate the system there, and the handover covers how to do that. Hosting costs are shown before launch, so the running cost is known in advance.

How do scope changes work during a build?

A change to scope starts with a written change request. YORD states its effect on cost and schedule before the work changes. You approve each change in writing, so the scope stays clear for both sides. Changes that affect cost or schedule do not start until you approve them.

Can our team maintain the software after launch?

Yes. The handover includes the source code, setup notes and documentation, so your engineers can run and change the system. Ongoing support from YORD is a separate choice, and its terms are stated in the proposal. The handover also covers how to release a new version, so your engineers can ship their own updates.
